GoTrust Secures New Funding from Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
GoTrust announces new funding from Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, strengthening its mission to advance privacy technology, digital trust, and compliance innovation for modern businesses.
Bollywood actor and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has invested in GoTrust, a Noida-based startup building a unified platform for data privacy, security, and governance. The funding round also saw participation from Mumbai-based Aevitas Capital Private Limited, which had earlier backed the company with a $400,000 pre-seed investment. GoTrust said the fresh capital will be deployed toward accelerating product development, strengthening its team, and expanding its presence in both Indian and international markets.
Founded in 2023 by Himanshu Gautam, GoTrust offers an AI-driven platform designed to help organisations manage the growing complexity of data protection and privacy compliance. Its product suite goes beyond conventional tools such as automated data discovery, consent management, data mapping, and risk assessment. The platform also integrates endpoint scanning for employee devices, Data Security Posture Management (DSPM), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and AI-layered security controls, enabling enterprises to govern data across on-premise systems, cloud environments, and third-party integrations.
The timing of the investment is significant, as regulatory scrutiny around data protection continues to intensify. In India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) has introduced stringent compliance obligations, with penalties that can reach up to ₹250 crore for serious violations. This has pushed many companies to seek more comprehensive, enterprise-grade privacy and security solutions rather than fragmented compliance tools.
Welcoming the investment, Gautam said the backing reinforces GoTrust’s aim to make privacy compliance practical, scalable, and trust-focused for organisations of all sizes. He added that the association with a globally recognised public figure also helps draw attention to the strategic importance of data governance.
As global demand for privacy and compliance solutions grows, GoTrust is positioning itself alongside established players such as OneTrust and Securiti.AI, with the ambition of making trust-led data governance a mainstream business priority.

TikTok Policy Changes Spark Industry Concerns
TikTok’s new terms of service and privacy policy, effective January 22, 2026, have triggered widespread fears among U.S. users, reflecting deeper issues in the tech industry. Following its sale from ByteDance to TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC, users were required to accept updated terms before accessing the app. The policy grants broad rights over user data and content, sparking a surge in app deletions, reportedly 150% above normal levels. Analysts argue the controversy highlights systemic problems: opaque privacy practices, lack of granular consent, and industry-wide reliance on “takeitorleaveit” agreements that erode user trust in digital platforms.
