Apple Looks to Broaden Privacy Safeguards Across All Devices

Apple is expanding privacy safeguards across all devices, strengthening data protection, user control, and secure experiences. Here’s what the new updates mean.

Apple is set to broaden its suite of data privacy protections across iPhones, iPads, Macs, and other devices. It highlights its long-standing commitment to user security and transparency. The move, announced in late 2025, builds on Apple’s reputation as a privacy-first technology company and comes amid growing global scrutiny of how tech giants handle personal data.

The expansion includes enhancements to Private Cloud Compute. It is a system that ensures sensitive data processed by AI features remains encrypted and inaccessible to Apple itself. This technology, first introduced with iOS 18, will now be integrated across macOS, iPadOS, and watchOS, allowing users to benefit from AI-driven personalisation without sacrificing confidentiality. Apple emphasised that users will not have to choose between powerful intelligence and strong privacy safeguards.

Other updates include locked and hidden apps, giving users the ability to restrict access to sensitive applications with Face ID or Touch ID. Apple is also rolling out expanded Mail Privacy Protection and Safari anti-tracking features, designed to block third-party trackers and prevent advertisers from building detailed user profiles. Additionally, the company is introducing a Declared Age Range API, which allows developers to tailor experiences responsibly while preventing misuse of children’s data.

Apple’s privacy dashboard will now provide cross-device visibility. It will enable users to see how apps access data such as location, contacts, and photos across all their devices. This unified view is intended to simplify privacy management and empower users to make informed choices. The company’s strategy reflects a broader trend in the tech industry, where privacy has become a competitive differentiator.
